Hi Guys,
I have been using the Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser, Liquid Gold and Rejuvinating Cream for the last week. Only using the Liquid Gold at night. I don't usually suffer from breakouts (just the occasional hormonal spot) but over the last couple of days I have had a breakout on my chin (about 4 pimples). Is this normal? Is the Alpha-H just cleaning up my skin by drawing out impurities etc or should I stop using it?

I also gave myself a Mask a couple of nights ago containing Aha's could I have overdosed my skin??

Also with the Ultraceuticals C-10 serum can I use this with the Alpha-H program I have at the moment? and can I use rosehip oil and the C-10 serum or should I just stick to one?

I am a bit confused:confused: Need an emergency pick me up as I have an important date on Sunday! Please help!

Hey pinkcupcake,

The pimples on your chin - do they have heads on them or are they just red bumps?

You might have overdone it a bit on the AHAs. Stop using the Rejuvenating Cream for the moment, and don't use any more masks; just use the Liquid Gold and Balancing Cleanser, and see if things improve. Then we can slowly reintroduce the Rejuvenating Cream.

Leave off the C-10 Serum for the moment, just use rosehip oil. Let's get your skin back to normal before we start back in with lots of actives! I know it's easy to get overexcited about using lots of new different things but sometimes it's best to start slowly and introduce your active products one by one.

Thanks Kate. I left off all the products last night (just cleansed) and my skin is calming down already (thank heavens). Thank you so much for the advice. Not going to get over excited anymore:redcheeks: with the new products!

Kate said pretty much what I was gonna say... I started typing last night but had to retire for the evening....

But I saved this in a Word document, so now I've just cut and paste it back into here... this is what I wrote:

Personally I wouldnt ever combine rosehip oil with anything that contains Vit C... its too active... I mean, I'm not an expert but just from my own horrific experiences...

As Kate and Allison are professionals in this area they may be able to give you more sound advice, but I will share an experience with you...

But firstly yes, I think you have OD'ed your skin... You've started the Alpha-H stuff (which your skin needs to adjust to a new program for a start) then used an AHA mask- OK, so this has told your skin to hurry up with its renewal process... then adding rosehip oil and Ultraceuticals C-10 serum... rosehip oil and any C serums are very active....

You need to go right back to basics and do the bare minimum - let your skin settle down, i think you've aggravated it....

When I first used the Rejuvenating Cream I had a break-out so I phoned Alpha-H and they told me it is quite an active cream, so give it a little rest - they also told me to put their Vital C serum on hold while my skin settled down and not use any products containing glycolic acid for a while and they sent me some complimentary samples of their Vitamin E serum which helped soothe everything and settle it down....

Skincare companies are really helpful if you phone them with a concern or a reaction to their products - so dont hesitate - they certainly dont treat you like a whinger - they realise that every person is different and that their products may have reacted to something else (another brand) that you're using....

And while your skin is recovering from anything helping from the inside really helps too - drink loads of water and herbal teas - especially chamomile as this really soothes the skin - if you dont like the taste combine a chamomile teabag and a peppermint, add some honey, raw sugar or stevia to sweeten... I like Twinings ********** and Mango tea and I add 2 chamomile teabags, sweeten and sip this before going to sleep - I've been doing this for a while and my skin has been a lot nicer... If i do get a zit or 2 they are not as angry (or as big) as they used to be....

Also cooled chamomile tea especially if you sweeten with some organic or manuka honey (antibacterial) is a very soothing facial toner....

I think all of us skincare junkies over do it sometimes - I think we think we can chop and change and chuck all manner of products and ingredients on our skins and its not until we've had a few serious mishaps we realise how fragile our skin is... Also mucking around with our skin too much can cause us to become sensitive and reactive, so take it easy.... Again, I've learnt this the hard way....

Now I generally run things past my beauty therapist first (I give her a quick call or catch-up with her at the gym (we go to the same gym! hehehe...) - she knows I know my skin and skincare/ingredients fairly well...

that's meant to be straw-berry & mango tea.... dont know why it ************* out my straw-berry - it must have thought I wrote a naughty word! hehehe.... :D

sorry I always write an epic! :redcheeks:

Hi Kitty,
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me. I will certainly not be trying to overdose my skin again any time soon. Thanks for your advice as I realised I haven't been drinking enough water lately (sitting here now with a big bottle) and I have recently had my pill changed to a different one by my doctor. I think it could be a combination of things. I got really stressed about it as my skin is normally perfect. Now I relaise that stressing probably made it worse! Thanks again Kitty and Kate xo

Oh pinkcupcake I could have saved you from an awful experience! In your other thread about receiving the Alpha H pack I advised to get your skin used to it just be starting with just Liquid Gold before using the cream as well - you need to build up to an onslaught of AHA's! Go easy! xo

:redcheeks: :redcheeks: :redcheeks: ! I'm sorry Luisa I did read your advice but I thought my skin was bullet proof and decided to hit it with the heavy artillery! I am so used to using my extra gentle Dermalogica products that I just decided to replace them all with different products without considering the active ingredients! I thought I was doing my skin a great favour:redcheeks: lol. Needless to say I have learned my lesson xo!:redcheeks:

Hi Guys,
Now that my skin has returned to normal do I start to introduce all my active products gradually? I have been too petrified to touch them since my most embarrassing aha overdose! Here is a list of what I have that caused the o.d in the first place.

Alpha-H - Liquid Gold

Alpha-H Rejuvinating Cream

Alpha-H Glycolic Mask (coming tomorrow)

Alpha- H Microcleanse (coming tomorrow)

Ultraceuticals C-10 serum

I also have the Alpha-H Balancing cleanser (don't think this has active ingredients does it?)

Should I try again or just ditch the lot and keep it simple?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey pink gal,

Here is my suggested program:

Am
Cleanse
apply c-10 serum
apply rejuvenating cream and an eye cream
apply 30+ spf

PM
cleanse
apply liquid gold
apply rejuvenating cream and an eye cream

once a week apply your mask, two-three times a week exfoliate with the micro cleanse.

FOR NOW- while you skin is recovering from too much attention : )

don't use the liquid gold for 1-2 weeks and use the c-10 serum on alternate days. Once your skin feels back on track you can use the above program as is. Don't use the exfoliant or mask until your skin feels better.

this should do the trick! :kissing:

That's a perfect regime Allison. Take heed pinkcupcake of the bit that says not to use the mask or exfolient yet!!;)

Lol, I was VERY tempted after seeing all my goodies from Adore arrive today but I have learned my lesson. I have put all the active things in the back of my shelf. Can someone remind me that I have them there when they think it might be time to use them? :yelling: Luisa Brown I am entrusting you with this task lol:bunny:
