Hi Alison!!! I haven't lamented to you for a while, which means that things have been good for me and my skin!!! I have been using Alpha-H's Liquid Harmony in my routine for quite a few weeks now, from which I have had great results. Is it true that once your skin gets used to the Liquid Harmony you can move onto the Liquid Gold? When I used Liquid Gold in the past, my skin reacted quite badly to it, with huge, deep lumpy pimples (lots and lots, and I mean lots) all over my chin/jaw area. I no longer get hormonal pimples and if I do get the odd pimple, it doesn't last for very long anymore. This is my current routine:

AM
Clarins Purifying Cleanser
Clarins Toner with Iris
Alpha-H Liquid Harmony
Clarins Ultra-Matte Day Concentrate
Megan Gale Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear (light)
TBS Vit C Eye Cream
Clarins Beauty Flash Eye Balm
PM
Either Clarins Purifying Cleanser or Nuetrogena cleanser/mask as a cleanser
Tromborg Herbal Cleansing Water
U/C Ultra A Treatment Serum
Alpha-H Balancing Moisturiser and Gentle Exfoliant Or Advanced Hydrating Cream (alternate every night).
TBS Vit C Eye Cream

I have also found the U/C Ultra A Serum to be amazing for my skin. Is this something I should stick with, or should I "step this up" with another product once I've finished the bottle (which will be soon)? One more question; is there a product that will work in a similar fashion to the U/C Ultra A Serum, but without the retinol in it?

Thank you :hugs:

Hi BPJ,

you can't beat retinol so no there is nothing that does what it does that is not retinol. We can look at going to a higher percentage, but I would go cautiously if your skin can be reactive to major changes.

I think maybe stick with the liquid harmony for now and we can boost your routine gently in another area.

For example the eye cream that you are using to the best of my knowlege does not contain the pure form of vitamin c that actually works on again. the ester version will soothe but not work on lines. We could look at the new ultraceuticals ultra c eye cream http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewItem.asp?idproduct=10458

that will definitely give your eyes a boost.

If you are about to run out of the ultraceuticals ultra a serum we could look at beefing it up a bit by going from the .3% up to a .5% which is the Skinceuticals .5% retinol: http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=8601

these would be nice subtle changes to your routine and next time, when you go through another bottle of liquid harmony we could then think about the liquid gold. For now I think we go with subtlety and gently boost it up and then we can try one bold move next time with the liquid gold.

sound OK?

were you using some c-10 on your skin at all? that would be the other ingredient I would look at introducing at some point to compliment what the retinol is doing.

Thanks Allison. I have used the C-10 before, but my skin reacted quite badly to it. I am sending you a PM to ask something else. Sorry to be mysterious...
