I am a bit reluctant to buy makeup books because
a) they're a bit overpriced IMO, like most art/photography books
b) the looks date quickly - my grandma has a few from about 15 years ago and they are hilarious!
c) I think the internet is the best and most up-to-date reference for makeup looks and tips!
I'd probably buy Kevin Aucoin's ones though, for the sheer artistry.

Yep I really wana check this one out! Actually this ones not too expensive. I think its around 30$? I actually dont really like all the really arty makeup books, only because its hard for me to pick out things I could actually use. I guess it also comes back to taste. I really like the bobbi brown books, as the advice given in those I think are pretty timeless and classic~

Serena, is this a new edition? They produced one of these (as well as a skin care and hair care one) several years ago.

I'm not big on buying makeup books either, I think to myself "now out of the money I will spend on that book I could buy more products":chuckle:

I have this book and it basically tells you how apply make-up to the different parts of the face. It actually shows you how to do classic make-up looks like the smokey eye, perfect shaped eyebrows, how to apply lipstick the right way etc etc. Its a good book. Would be good for someone who is just starting to experiment with make-up.

I love makeup books! I might have to check this one out, thanks Serena. You're right, it is hard finding good makeup books in bookstores. I've only found them here and there in Borders or online.
I have a Bobbi Brown one, which I love, a Laura Mercier one (which is pretty, but doesn't really provide many tips) and the Kevyn Aucoin books are on my wishlist!

Wandering slightly, but still on the subject of m/u books - I saw the CIndy Crawford one, from over a decade ago in a 2nd hand bookshop the other day, and picked it up for a look-see. Now, Cindy was the original Glamazon, but the m/u looks hadn't really dated at all.

True, no many real advances in the old makeup application!

Actually, sometimes I just love the photos in them! Even when they have products just smeared all over :chuckle:
