Ok, well I have decided that the pob has died a natural death and I must move onto greener pastures. I'm not going too far though, only next door (the grass is greener on the other side...get it?...i'm making grass references....) to Katie Holmes. I like her messy bob with the side-swept fringe but there is something about it that is a bit....something. I'm sure it would be nicer if it were straightened, but can anyone find any pics for me of her hair or something similar?? Basically I want a sort of de-constructed bob, chin length or thereabouts, with a sweepy fringe.

HELP!

Well, I had it done.........and the forum wasn't here for me to go to afterwards!

I'm not sure about it, to be quite honest. The fringey bit is too neat or something. Not that I wanted it to be particularly piecey, but it just seems a bit librarianish when what I wanted was a little bit sexy. But then that always seems to happen to me. You know how perfumes are always really different on some people because of their skin chemistry? That's me with haircuts. I am resigned to the fact that I cannot look edgy. On me, everything looks conservative, and what would look cool on someone else looks newsreaderish on me. Pearl necklaces are another example. I adore pearls and wear pearl earrings, bracelets and rings with aplomb. But I cannot wear a pearl necklace without looking like the First Lady. I wish I could be one of those girls who wears pearls with a LBD and looks chic and yet young. But I'm not. I'm instant librarian - just add water (or pearls)! Ahhh well!! You can't have it all can you? I think it will look better after it grows out in a couple of weeks. It's definitely too short around my chin area now (of course, being a hairdresser she took off more than I asked her to, although normally she is good in this regard!) which makes my round face look even rounder, and makes me look "cute" rather than "sexy". Grrrr. Lucky I am not the kind of girl who cries over haircuts anymore!

Will post pics if I get around to taking them tomorrow.

Oz, we are all here for you now! :hugs:
Maybe you are judging the cut too harshly. Give yourself time to get used to it and if you still feel prissy, have your hairdresser razer through the bulk of you fringe for that textured quality.
Can't wait to see the pics. :waving:

I also love pearls but look like a nanna wearing them. :chuckle:

Hhahaha this link is hilarious and so much fun!! Everyone has to try it!

Actually this is a really good tool. I am seeing really clearly that long hair is not for me - the styles that really look best on me are short or upstyles. Interesting stuff!

THIS IS AWESOME! I tried it with two different pics - one in which I was wearing black eyeliner and red lipstick, and one in which I was wearing almost no makeup. The difference it made with styles and colours was amazing!

I had a go, and I actually quite liked the Cate Blanchett hair on me, but darker. I even saved it in 3 colours, and sent it to myself.

I am thinking of getting my hair shorter later this year, it's at that horrible collar length stage, and I feel likeit drags my face down.

Of course, if I do get it cut, it means more time required to style it..................

I felt like i struck gold when i stumbled upon it and it was so easy to use - and i finally understand how much better i look with wavy or curly hair (which is what is i naturally) - of course my hair ir the hardest to manage in that way and gets so dry, so starts my quest for the right shampoo, conditioner and hair products!

i emailed options ot firends as well - it sure beats pulling out pictues from magazines!!

Yeah, I am loving this!! The scary thing is, my hair was at this length and almost in this style earlier this year, but I was itching for it to grow, because I was being lazy. Now I want it back there again.:shakehead:

And the colours in my prefered one (I had a BIG play) are very similar to what I have now, except I added black lowlights in that , and I have blonde bits now. The base and highlights are the same, pretty much.:chuckle:

I too love the blint fringe but it makes my face look even fatter than it already is. I always go for th long side fringe because i have a huge forhead (sp?) and it disguises it when i pull my hair back and it always softens my face aswell.

I went a lot darker on saturday, i started off being a light brown with blonde foils so it was a relaly honey colour and now i'm a medium brown all over. I'm loving it by the way. I went into the salon and asked for WOW hair and they delivered. She is my bff so its a lot easier to tell her what i want and she gave me a free trim too, well she only took a little off the back only. I'm trying to grow it for her wedding and well its just not happening. After the wedding her and i are getting the chop becasue our hair hasn't had a realy cut for some time andit needs it. And besides i wanna keep up with the trends.

Yesterday I spent 4 and a half hours at the Hairdresser. I have had a new style and colour and I am very happy with the results.

My hair is extremely fine so I kept growing it as I didn't think there was much else I could do with it. I have also been having the same colour for well over two years. My hairdresser had also been the same for ages because she is a friend. However yesterday I booked myself into a top salon and decided a change was warranted!

I had four inches cut off the length of my hair. I had a full head of foils weaving four different colours through (from dark chocolate to bleach blonde).

My hair is cut so that the sides are longer than the back. It has also been spliced on the ends for extra texture. The best thing is it now looks pretty good out (I hardly ever wear my hair out) and I can still get it up easily when I just can't be bothered. The best thing is that if I decide I want it back to how it was (which is highly unlikely) it will grow back out in six to eight weeks.

I also had a gloss treatment as well to give it extra shine. I am now definitely more blonde than any other colour but I like it!

I was freaking out when the two male hairdressers started mixing colours and chopping off length but I am so glad that I took a leap of faith and let them do their thing.

It ended up costing me a lot more than I have ever paid for a colour before but geee it was so worth it!!

It's not really a bob as it still has a bit of length but it kind of has a concave back. Mind you if it's hot whilst we are in Melbourne there will be no way on earth I will be wearing my hair out!!

I have a side fringe and I have to keep pinning it back whcih is fine but I'm over it every day!! Not sure what to do! Any tips?? :shakehead:

Tease it, tease it and tease it!!!! i got this advice from a hairdresser.
I suggest teasing the roots and then gently smoothing the top layer of hair over. I have to do this everyday just to get my thick heavy hair to stay to the side. and use hairspray. hope this helps

OK grab a tail comb and run it agains the grain of the hair closest to the roots, this will bulk up the area and it gives great hold and if someone else can help me explain how to tease you fringe roots down, not up as in the 80's puffy fringe look.

ummmm let me think about this a little more.........ok do the teasing aginst the grain of your piece of hair while holding the tip of your piece of hair then gently comb it over to get a smooth surface but don't undo what you've done.

Basically its knotting your and then combing it out. Its harder to explain than i thought.

Maybe a root-boosting product (TIGI has a fab one that I use on my super-fine hair)...or you could try a salt spray, this would add lots of texture. Velcro rollers are also great for adding volume and giving a nice shape to layered hair, without making it curly.

I used to have a cheap one like that, and it was FANTASTIC! It matched my hair perfectly too (I got it from a salon-type place that sold mostly hairpieces and hair accessories so they had a wide variety of colours, but it was still cheap) and I wore it "up", ie I would put my hair into a ponytail and pin it in and around and it would look like a gorgeous messy bun. PP I am SURE it doesn't look that bad!! How long is the rest of your hair?? A thick blunt fringe is hot, hot, hot! Even if you don't like it everyone else probably thinks you look fab. There are a couple of important things with fringes though!!

1. You have to wash and blowdry it every day. If it's even slighly oily, or if you don't blowdry it, it will dry flat and limp and look YUCKY.
2. You have to wear eye makeup, because the fringe is designed to bring out your eyes and if you don't you will look very washed-out and tired. This means a minimum of mascara and a little bit of eyeliner, but I would add some eyeshadow to this too. Go some beautiful bronzey browns to really make the whole eyes-and-fringe thing work! Oh and make sure you use undereye concealer if you have even a hint of dark circles.

Oh, and in a few weeks (literally - the speed of growth of a fringe is amazing, as anyone with a fringe knows!) your fringe will be long enough to sweep to the side.

Well I really have no idea what to do with my hair. I have regrowth and the blue is washing out. I'm thinking of dying it a light brown with black and green ends of my dreads. I don't know. I have to wait for all of my blue to come out so I'm going to have to look rather retarded for a while whilst that is coming out :chuckle:

you could go dark all over then at the ends choose a colour like green for some random tips.... I've seen this done before and it is really cool, rather creative, I wondered how the hairdresser got it looking so good....

Hairdresser? I don't believe in the devils. I do all my hair myself. I don't believe in paying alot of cash for something that would cost me $20 and a little bit of time to do
But yeah, I'm thinking of going all light brown then the ends some black and some green. I've dyed my hair so much that I think dying it a natural color such as brown would be different :chuckle:
Which is obviously what I'm after cos I'm sick of looking at the same hair do.

I too would like to get a Pob but i'm way too scared and i cna't geet it done until after February next year because i'm in a wedding and i want long hair.

Its so daunting when you think abut chopping your hair off because you can't go back the way it was for at least a few months.

Hey all, Can you help?

I have a friend who has come to me saying that she needs a new look. She showed me her wedding photos from 20 years ago and she still has exactly the same hair. She is going to the States in a week for 6 weeks so I suggested that she go somewhere really good and get them to do an overhaul. Trouble is I don't know of anywhere. She will be based close to San Diego.

Do any of you adorables know of a forum/website/something that might be able to give her some direction of where to start looking?? Or better yet, a salon. I'm sure that she would be forever grateful.

Wendy suggested I get a curly pob. I'm not sure how the curly part of the pob will look but if Wendy says so...!!! Also I haven't seen anyone else with one (although there are plenty of straight pobs out there) so that appeals too. Fingers crossed it works out!!

Same O! I am booking in for 2 weeks just before the Christmas Show - a trim as I want to lose as little length as possible, and need to get it reshaped with some long layers and my part needs to be put back. I am thining instead of my normal short side fringe, having a long side fringe instead.

And a nice deep chocolate brown colour!

I figure they can't F*** this up too much before the Christmas Show!

Cool. i really want a concaved bob but i am a little scared of lopping off my hair, which is only shoulder length but it has taken so long to get there and my hair is super thick too and i'm a little worried my hair type won't suit the bob. oh well, i've got plenty of time to think about it.

I'm going to the hairdresser on Thursday.. just a quick question regarding colour...

My hair is dark chocolate brown naturally and I was thinking for a change to go a caramel colour.. Do you think it would be ok with dark eyebrows, I couldn't be bothered getting into tinting them.

Instead of getting an all over caramel colour i would just get caramel highlights to start with and then when you got back each month just ask you HD to do more or do thicker foils. Caramel against a chocolate brown looks great.

I'm getting my hair coloured tonight which i can't wait for. Those of you on Facebook would know that i have dark brown hair which makes me look relaly pale.

So tonight i'm getting medium thickness caramel foils to just lighten my hair a shade, i will need a toner aswell because mt hair is dark and i get it coloured often, but my hairdresser is my bestie so she won't let me leave without having it right. I'm so excited because i have 1.5cm of mousey brown regrowth adn blonde regrowth near my ears. It looks hideous!!!

RBB, I swear if I could, some days I would go to the hairdresser just for the head massage and forget the cut. It really puts me in another emotional space.
