I read this article on the almost-lost art of wearing your Sunday best on a Sunday. I have decided to revive the art, in my wardrobe at least and always put in a bit of extra effort on a Sunday!

Here's to the Sunday best! :)

Yes I agree, looking pretty really makes your Sunday feel so much better!!

When I used to go to church every Sunday, I would always put in an effort but everyone else would rock up in any old thing they had been wearing that day! I always felt overdressed - which made me sad. :( And I stopped going eventually! Maybe now I am being punished by way of boy troubles!! :chuckle:

I think weekends are a time to be relaxed and comfy! Not into putting in a lot of effort on the weekends - unless of course you are actually doing something which requires it. But for seeing family and hanging around at home - jeans and flats EVERY time for me!

me too.

I do like to dress up though. So if it happens to be a sunday I always try to make an effort!

I agree that as a society we need to make more of an effort. Our grandnothers never left the house without stockings, gloves & a hat, now people pop up to the shop in their PJs!!! Plu-ease!

I'm usually out most Friday's for lunch with my mum as I have a few doctors appointments on
Fridays. I then meet up with my friends for dinner and sometimes we go to a movie or shopping etc.

During winter Saturdays are taken up with the footy and we usually go to the footy club for drinks after the game (non alcoholic for me though) which usually ends up with dinner at a restaurant or at the club. I like to dress smart casual for the footy.

Usually every second sunday I meet with my cousin for lunch and shopping which means co-ordinating a decent outfit. When I get a sunday free I like to wear my p.j's all day but if I have to go to the shops or I have people over for dvd day I always wear my trackies. I couldn't be bothered dressing up to sit around the house.

Lol, yesterday I was having a drink at a riverside bar in Perth and a woman turned up in trakkies and moccasins!

Yes, I did sort of mean if we go out anywhere. I guess Sundays are traditionally lunch days or family days - special events. But perhaps not for those who go out on a Saturday and preder to recover/hybernate on a Sunday.

I would never wear trakkies out anywhere...actually I don't even own a pair!

Hmmm, yes, we used to dress up for the Sunday church service when I was a nipper...but since I haven't been to church in about 15 years, the 'Sunday Best' wardrobe has seriously slipped!

We still dress up a bit for certain things i.e. Christmas lunch, and dinner at the grandparents house (table always set with candles, crystal and fine china). Christmas definitely reminds me of wearing my 'best', because as kids we almost always got new outfits so of course had to wear them immediately. The smocked dresses were my favourite (barring the matching Alf jumpers - now that was special!).

Haha!! Thems were the days, eh RBB? For me it was always a green-and-red print dress with a white lace collar, but I always ALWAYS wanted to wear the jumpers that my cool Auntie got me - usually Sportsgirl or Miss Shop logo jumpers! Oh yeah!

Speaking of which, have you guys heard that Sportsgirl are BRINGING BACK the multicoloured logo tees, jumpers, towels and totes?!! Rock on! And the best part is I can just walk in and get them and I don't have to ask my mum!

Sorry folks, Sunday is a day off for me after next week, and I intend to use it. At the 'mo it's 6 million layers for footy. Plus, Sunday is the mad housework and laundry rush day, so daggies are the way to go.

If I am going to 'dress' on a weekend, it's Saturday.

One of my favourite ever outfits as a tacker was a lemon yellow blouse with fine lace trimming on the collar and the cuffs of the little puff sleaves. I always wore this with a yellow and chocolate flared cotton tartan mini-skirt with yellow lace on the hem. Oh how I loved it! I even wore it on my first ever day of school!

When I was little I used to wear cute little dresses etc. to church (aka my Sunday best), and I still make an effort to wear something nice-ish to church on sundays, because I see so many people there and cause I think it's just a nice thing to do. Sometimes in summer though, it gets so hot I stop caring about looking nice and rock up in shorts and a shirt!
