Hello Sahne :waving: I am just like you - I moved from Melbourne about a year ago. I think Jaime and I are the only WA Adorables on here. I really miss Melbourne culture. However, there are a few places in Perth I really like.
For drinks, not so much food, I love The Lucky Shag bar on the river - Barrack Street Jetty. If you can get an outside seat it is right over the water and the views are amazing. I really love it.
Right next door is a gorgeous restaurant called Halo. It is VERY expensive but again, the views are beautiful and the food is divine. Great service too.
In the city is a Melbourne-style cafe called TigerTiger - on a laneway off Murray Street (sorry, I can't remember the name of the lane). It is near Country Road and a boutique called Eldorado is right on the corner of the lane. Anyway, TigerTiger is so cute and cosy with great decor and the best homemade fudge ever. Plus really yummy muffins and pear, nutella and marcapone bagels.
In Northbridge on James St, Sorrento is a fave restaurant - old-style Italian. I love sitting on the street with a glass of red and one of their sumptuous pastas or risottos.
In West Perth on Hay Street is a great Indian place called the Royal India. Also, Maya Masala on James St Northbridge is delish.
In Mt Lawley Cream is supposed to be a fab restaurant/bar but I have not yet tried it.
I hope this helps!

Thanks Sapphire!
Here are my "treasures" so far;
Limones in Fremantle - great food, Melbourne cafe-style atmosphere
Chelsea Pizza in Nedlands for t/a pizza (they also deliver)
Malaysian restaurant in the restaurant area in Leedervile opposite the Fish shop, next to parking lot
great bakery: Lawleys on Beaufort St in Mt Lawley, also on the Subi Markets
Tsunamin -Sushi in Mosman Park on Glyde St
breakfast with a view:Kings Park, near the Nedlands entrance
But nothing compares to Melbourne food (and prices!) and the Vic-Markets...:shakehead:
We should start another thread: beauty in Perth.... any great addresses etc (I have found a great hairdresser at least!) - let me know if you are interested!
Cheers

My brother lives in Perth so I visit him there a bit. He manages a restaurant called Balthazar, which is on the Esplanade in the city - it's fabulous but take your credit card :chuckle:
I've had nice lunches at the Subiaco Hotel, and spent many a long afternoon at Little Creatures in Fremantle. I believe Duende is also supposed to be very good.

What will bring you to this strange but sunny city, Rosie? Is there anything in particular you want to do/see?
Kate, I too love Little Creatures. Just came back from the Lucky Shag on the Barrack St jetty in the city...drinking Little Creatures beer with beau in the afternoon sun - bliss!
I really miss boutique stores like in Melbourne. However, I recently stumbled across a couple of gems:
Harry and Gretel in Leederville is a gorgeous, gorgeous clothing/beauty/beautiful things store. Fleur Wood, Skin and Thread clothes, pretty dresses, the only stockist of Renee perfumes in Perth...
There is also a new store called Bathing Beauty or Bath and Beauty in one of the arcades between the Hay and Murray Street Malls. Lovely, but nothing compared to say Kleins in Melbourne which I adore.

A dear friend is heading home from o/s in December, and her home city is Perth. I'd love for her to be able to make it to Melbourne, as the budget would then stretch to the Adorables as well, but I don't see it happening, so I am plotting a trip to Perth.
I will have definite dates in the next month or so, with a bit of luck. I plan to have a week to 10 days in the westernmost capital, so maybe we can catch up? Unless she heads east, in which case everything changes - AGAIN!:whipcrack:

Sounds like a good idea Rosie - although it depends on when in December as I may still be on my honeymoon! Let me know how it unfolds though. :)

Witches Cauldron in Subiaco
Amarettos Cafe (italian) in Tuart Hill/Osborne Park

This is not a food thing but in London Court in the city there is a gorgous but tiny shop...cannot remember the name but it sells wonderful hats and fascinators, plus olga berg bags, pashminas, vintage-style jewlery, the Sohum range, and other very pretty goodies. Its a real treat.

See, there's a reason I want a few more days in Perth, I need to locate all these places, and appreciate them at my own pace. I'll be too busy doing this :penguin: when I see my friend to notice much else.
