I thought he was dead already!
I like the shot. Love AL's work but the LV does look out of place.

I love it, personally - it appeals to me much more than the fashion-type ads with Scarlett or whoever. It's very atmospheric.

Love it!!! I think it really conveys a sense that this is a product of the highest quality for people whose lifestyles demand it. I think it gives a bit more credibility to a brand that has been all but ruined for me by the whole 'fake/Paris Hilton/WAGs/nouveau riche' thing.
Oh yes, I just saw this. It's such a great picture. It actually makes me wants to buy Vuitton more than some of their other ads!

Me too!! The aura of quality, substance and history is so much more appealing to me than the glitzy glamour of most of the other ads.

Nice. I prefer statement advertising like this to glamour-icon/air-brushed advertising

Maybe because Im studying politics and soviet ideology, it just seems kinda odd to me. Even ironic.

I am not convinced Gorby would have LV luggage? Certainly not logo LV.

I think that's why it works! I'm with Kate, SJ and the others are zzzzzzzzz. Much prefer something left of centre.

I can't stop looking at it! Far more beautiful, intriguing and appealing IMO than boring old Scarlett, J.Lo or Uma.

I just think its trying to make the LV logo 'deep' and I dont think it is or can be made to look that way. I duno just doesnt appeal to me. I never really liked the LV print that all of a sudden became popular. And I wouldnt pay thousands for it either. Sorry for stirring the pot hehe

This is such a refreshing and posative move for LV. I must admit I was a little puzzled at first. Such a dramatic contrast to pastel Scarlett on a rope in blonde curls. I think it really brings a more human and earthly side to the brand. I would be interested to see the other ads also. It will be interesting to see mass market response.
Wonder if we'll see gorby sachaying down the runway next season in some pumps and a trench?? :chuckle::shakehead:

Probably not, if Yeltsin was still kicking I reckon he'd give it a go - he was always up for a bit of fun, old Boris! 'specially after a vodka or 3..............:shakehead:

I love it, mainly because of the sense of history this man provokes, I'm totally facinated by the cold war era, and the efforts this man went to, to "de-nuke" America.
I'm not going anywhere near my response to Kate bringin this advert to my attention.. lol :chuckle:

aaahahahaha... I wasn't going to dob you in Sarah... but now that you mention it :chuckle:
I showed Sarah the ad before I posted the forum thread and said "look! how cool is this!" and she said "Who's that guy?"
I said, "It's Mikhail Gorbachev."
She looked at me blankly and said "who's he??"

he is way b4 your "time" Sarah :waving: & pls don't be offended :hugs: unless u did some history about russia or the likes it would have been unlikely u would know him , so i don't think this was a blonde moment ,
there would be plenty of American politicians today that i wouldn't recognise :redcheeks::whistle:

Seriously - I wouldn't have known who he was either if it hadn't been written! We young'uns didn't get the same education as people in the age bracket above!

I must admit if no one told me who he was from this picture I wouldnt have been able to tell who he was. My boy is all down with international politics and knew who he was straight away. I have seen other pics and would recognise him waving at a crowd but with a LV in a car..hmmm maybe not. :shakehead: I feel so dumb right now!!:redcheeks::chuckle::glee:
