I want to know what everyone would cook on their first date. Even if you don't cook still tell us what you'd dream up.
This is what i'd cook:
Main:
Rack of lamb with a white wine and garlic sauce
Mash potatoes with parmesan cheese and seeded mustard through it
Fresh baby green beans
Glass of red wince
Dessert:
Creme cramel with fresh raspberries on the side
With a glass of champagne
After dinner:
More champage and a cheese board in some kind of romantic place for eg. maybe if i lived near the beach, or if i had a good view outside on a rug etc or in a really nice room with a fire place and candles.
Then some after dinner delight!!!! sorry just had to say it

I would NEVER cook on a first date or be cooked for! Waaaay too much pressure. Although, I do love your menu. My sort of food!!!
PS Rack of lamb reminds of of How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days... love that movie!!!

I would like to share a funny story with you guys if that's ok.
My Partner cooked for me on our very first official date. He invited me to his apartment and had gone to so much trouble. The thing was I thought he knew I was a vegetarian but it turned out he didn't! He served up a very nice roast Pork!! He was so embarrased when I told him I don't eat meat and I was embarrassed for assuming he knew.
After the awkwardness we had a lovely evening although there was absolutely no funny business whatsoever! Now many years later my boy makes a joke everytime we go out. When the waiter comes to take our order he will jump in and say a meat dish for the lady please:chuckle:!! I reply with " sorry about her she is in the middle of gender reassignment"

I'd happily cook or be cooked for on a first date.
It'd depend on how comfortable I am with the guy as to if I felt OK being at his place (or having him at mine) etc.. but I don't see any problems with it.
I don't know that I'd be as adventurous as you PP with the menu (although let me know when you are cooking and I'm there! :chuckle:).. maybe something a little less time consuming and easier.. that way if things don't go so well you can easily say - that's it! or if things are going REALLY well, you won't care if the dessert is ruined cause you had more important things to worry about :chuckle::glee:

Ok I am totally aware that it wasn't a date, but I fell so much harder for my crush when he cooked me dinner the other night! Watching a man cook competently is extremely attractive, so I imagine it would work the other way round too. But I'd cook something at which I am very adept, so as to look fabulously confident and talented!
BTW he cooked thai red curry, which I love. It was great. But it was too hot for him and he had to have a glass of milk with it. It was adorable. :)

I cooked this for my partner the first time I cooked for him:
Soup: Pumpkin & Pear
Entree - Vegetarian Wontons with a balsamic Dressing
Main- Seafood Paella
Dessert - Minature Sticky Date Puddings with Butterscotch sauce served with almond biscotti and vanilla bean ice cream.
Afterwards I had a cheese and fruit platter - Fresh Strawberries, grapes, assorted crackers and cheeses, dried apricots and apple, dips etc. We finished off with massive hot chocolates.

I'm a good cook if i do say so myself. So my menu is pretty normal for me to do. I like to spend all day prepaing everything so if there is room for error i have time to fix it. I also think that having a guy that can actually cooks is so damn attractive. Its really good to know. I also would like to cook for my man if i had one because i'm a bit of a tradional person and its nice to have dinner ready etc if they have had a hard day. But then when i have a big day i expect the same in return, even if its takeawy as long as i don't have to do it.

Hmmmm, I probably wouldn't cook; maybe better to go out on neutral ground and let someone else do all the hard work! After a few dates, it'd be a beautiful piece of steak (making sure he wasn't a vegetarian!) with a nice green salad and crusty bread, followed by chocolate cake with raspberries and cream. Simple and unfussy, but delish.
Here's what I wouldn't serve or eat on a first date:
- Spaghetti
- Tacos
- Soup
- Anything that requires construction, and therefore, potential mess. As before, I think these are fine once you get to know each other's slurping habits a bit better!

Can i add don't eat a burger 1)they are messy and 2) not the best date food
Don't eat any kind of onion or roasted garlic, they give you bad breath and smelly farts!!!

Although, things that require construction and need to be eaten with the hands can be a lot of fun and good icebreakers!!

Geez you guys sure raise the bar!
I often cook new things from recipes all the time & my boy complains (can you believe it! :flames:) that I go to too much trouble. :shakehead: His all time fave food is toatsed cheese sandwiches.

It's funny cos if my boyfriend asks me to make him something I'll be like "Make it yourself". But as soon as he starts to make something himself I just take over. I can't help it:redcheeks: I know he will screw the food or my kitchen up so it's just best if I make it. :shakehead::chuckle:
But I think pasta always goes well when cooking for someone.

Well, I can tell you, I wouldn't be making my nachoes, saffron chicken, scalloped potatoes or trifle (4 things I do really well)- they are good, but not exactly date food.
I'd go out, but that's cause I am a very average cook............... :typing:

I actually think that I would perhaps make tacos, because men love them!! I've been complimented on my tacos many times if I may say so myself, and I actually think it's fun to sit around and put your food together with your hands. It's sort of communal and friendly!
I think steak and salad sounds like a good idea too, except steak can be a bit hit-and-miss - same with something like a roast....sometimes the meat can come out beautiful and tender, and other times it can be a bit dry and overdone. It can be a mystery. Nothing can be left to chance on this hypothetical first date!
