Hi Alison and forum

I've been using the Ultraceuticals mineral makeup for the past few months and love the coverage and ease of application, however it makes my skin feel really dry.
I use the Ultraceuticals skin care (Eventone and Vit A and ultra hydrating in the PM) and in the morning under the mineral makeup I use the Vit C sheer, Ultra moisturiser as well as the ultra hydrating gel plus Clarins Instant smooth as a primer) and still my skin feels SO dry during the day.
I have combination skin (oily T) with dry parts.

Do you have any suggestions to counteract this problem as I really want to keep using the foundation
Thank you :waving:

PS- This only occurs with the mineral makeup, doesn't happen with liquid foundation

oh no willywonka, that does not sound so good and you seem to be doing all the right things

You really are using additional bits and pieces to boost your moisture levels so I just don't know what more to suggest. Have you tried the ID bare essentials make up or are you finding that it is only happening with the ultraceuticals make up?

I know that it is just not going to sit well with everyone as fantastic as it is. Your skin may need something with a touch more moisture in it.

Are you dead keen on using a mineral make up or is it the powder finish that you like and could consider trying something else???

I know! so annoying. Although I did try dropping the Ultra Vit C off the regime this morning and it's not feeling anywhere near as dry. I just used the Ultra Moist and Ultra hydrating gel, but I really like the Vit C.....oh well can't have everything I guess ;)

The main reason i love the mineral foundation is the ease of application and the even, great coverage, however Ultraceuticals is the only mineral one I have tried thus far as I thought I'd probably get the same results with all brands. I love liquid foundation (matte finish) but am yet to find one that gives me medium to good coverage and stays on and doesn't oil up too much. I bought the Georgio Armani Matte Silk last week, very light coverage but, result was not was I was expecting, very average mainly because i was expecting a medium coverage and ended up like a tinted moisturiser . Am going to try the Chanel Vitalumier next week as some of the girls on the forum advised it was their pick.

Thank you for your help though, just wanted to check I wasn't doing anything wrong :waving:

Willywonka, maybe try easing up your actives just a bit? I know if I overdo it my skin can get quite dry, particularly under mineral foundation. Like maybe use them on alternate days (e.g. day 1, Ultra C Sheer, day 2, Even Skintone, day 3, Ultra A). Just a thought...

Yes I think that may be the shot Kate. Shall give it a try

Thank you :)

oh I meant to ask: how often are you exfoliating?

Oooh I didn't think that could be the culprit!

I use the Dermalogica Pre-cleanse with the Ultraceuticals milk cleanser with a light non-active exfoliator EVERY night........too often??:ashamed:

Morning is just milk cleanser then Vit C etc

exfoliating every night!!! ooooh that sounds like a bit much!

So you have been using active products for a while then? Curious as to why you are experiencing this dehydration.

I am thinking that you may need a touch more good oils in your diet, a suppliment may help: http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=5243

But it feels so goooood:chuckle:

Ok will cut the exfoliating down.
Have been using the actives for over 6 months now, but only find it drying when using the mineral foundation.
Am on the Omega/flaxseed/linseed oils already, but am nearly out and was thinking i'll try the Ultraceuticals tabs.

Thank you :kissing:

well your skin sounds like it should be fine with the actives. Winter can be the worst for exaggerating the dry skin tendencies.

You may have to consider a switch. I find the Napoleon camera finish a good comprimise but it's not mineral make up- let me know if you need a hand.

I am just a bit baffled unless your skin is reacting to being overly exfoliated but that sounds odd....

Yeah I didn't think of the over exfoliating as it's just a really gentle and organic exfoliator.

I have got the Napoleon Camera finish that I was using with Napoleon liquid foundation prior to the discovery of Mineral makeup, just appears a bit too powdery compared to the mineral.

Oh well, they mystery continues, but i will def. take your exfoliation advice and also as Kate mentioned using the actives on alternating days.
Thanks so much for your help
