View Full Version : Toni & Guy
Chapel Street, Victoria.....
anyone been there? Thoughts? Experiences?
Thinking of going from long hair to a short cut like Victoria Beckham's current one :redcheeks: lol soooo excited!!! But it's going to be such a change!
Was thinking of going to Toni & Guy..I don't get my hair done that often, dont have that much money (until i recently got a part time job) and my boyfriend thinks its a good idea to go to a good expensive salon (unlike last time i paid 170 for cut and colour and got purple hair instead of brown :( )
I was wondering,
would you go for a haircut and spend 30-60ish on a diy hairdye at home, or spend the extra money and get it done by a professional, especially considering im going to get such a drastic hair cut change?
Any thoughts, experiences, advice would be great!! :hugs:
Hey i know its a haircut........but its serious :chuckle:

Professional! Professional! Emmy I reckon if you're going for a big change, do your research then go to a hairdresser you love and trust and get them to do the hard work for you. It will be so worth the money. Then you won't have to pay too much in maintenance as you'll already have a basic structure you like, and a colour that you can match with DIY.
I had the big chop from very long to pixie short a couple of years ago, and did colour at the same time. My guy was great, spent lots of time making sure I was happy before he finished. But he was also really glad I bought a few pics in with me so he could use them as inspiration but still tailor the cut a bit to suit my face shape.
How exciting, love a drastic hair change (besides, it'll always grow back if you don't like it - and think of all the hair accessories you could get!). Good luck and please let us know how you go! :clapping:
thank you raspeberryberet :)
i rarely get my hair done, so i dont have an actual hairdresser at all. did some research and toni and guy looks good, one of their pictures of hair theyv done is on the net i want done :) which is a good sign! and i always bring along pics to the hairdresser with me :)

For such a big change def go to a good cutter. If you are new to the salon have a no cut consultation first. They should spend time with you talking about what would suit you & listen to your ideas. They could give you colour ideas too. You could even just book in for a trim to see if you are happy with the hairdresser. It'll cost you but at least you'll be sure they are good or not. To save money wash your own hair before going & skip the blow dry tell them you prefer to dry it naturally.
As far as colour is concerned....If it is a solid colour I would DIY. If you want foils etc get it done in the salon otherwise it looks dodgy.
So tell us what sort of look are you hopeing for? Post us some pics.

Emmy, two of my friends have been attending this salon for quite some time. It is an excellent salon with talented staff.
Take the advice of the other adorables and have a consultation prior to embarking on such a trastic change to ensure you are fully comfortable that this is the salon for you.
If you ahven't already, check out their website www.toniandguy.com.au
Keep us posted!
thanks for the advice everyone :)
last night i dyed my hair at home, a dark brown from the garnier line - turned out well, i am happy with it :)
i'll be waiting til my pay comes through in the next couple of weeks, keep thinking about the haircut i want (still havent changed my mind :kissing: )
then i'll call them up at toni and guy (i've already check out their website :) there's a cut on there quite similar to the one i want) and make a consultation/appointment with them, before getting my hair actually cut. my boyfriend also suggested cutting it in stages - long to medium (shoulder length) then medium to short, so i could get used to it, and if the medium didnt suit me or i didnt like it, at least it wouldn't be so short.

I totally agree, just do it! If you do it in stages, you'll miss out on the WOW factor. Also, your hair might not look great at a mid-length, whereas it could look fab at a shorter length. And you'll never never know if you never never go!

Ditto!!! Maybe you should try on a short wig in the style close to what you're thinking of. That way you can be certain before you go for te BIG CHOP!! :glee:

hi everyone!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
best haircut (and decision about hair) i made in my life!
i look gorgeous, even if i do say so myself. :chuckle:
i just got a digital camera, so will post pics tomorrow :) il do before and afters
ok, well i was completely nervous, but i got there, one of the girls washed, massaged and combed my hair, then the hairdresser came over and had a chat about what i wanted - he had done many "pobs" :chuckle: before, was in very good hands and i wasnt very nervous anymore except when those first few lengths came off. my hair used to be very long, and they had to keep comin round with a broom to sweep it up :redcheeks:
it looks fabulous! iv never had my own hairdresser before (like, keep going back to same person) but i will definately be going back to toni and guy on a regular basis!

Update:
I've been meaning to post pics, but my digital camera isn't working with my computer:mad: and hasn't been in over a month. I'm looking at getting a new computer, so should have pics soon if everyone wanted to see them.
I'll be going for a trim in a few weeks - might even take a little more length off. :chuckle::glee:
